This Unlock Is Huge for Lazy Players (#7)
The money machine is still at 85 mil GP every two weeks. I've put some of that money into Archaeology, finished the Auto-screener and made the setup easier to leave running while I work towards Sticky Fingers.
The money machine is paying for the next upgrade
Last episode, we got the money machine up to 85 mil GP every two weeks. I'm putting some of that money into Archaeology so I can keep training it in the background and work towards the unlocks I want next.
The goal for this account is still 100M GP every two weeks from systems that work while I'm logged out, plus no more than ten hours of mostly AFK play over the same fortnight. I want to keep the account progressing while I work, so I put some of its earnings straight back into upgrades.
This time, that meant keeping the machines supplied while paying for Archaeology materials and chronotes. My cash balance kept changing as I spent on Archaeology and sold what the account produced.
Divine charges kept the grind funded
Slow-buy offers for incandescent energy finally filled, letting me turn simple parts into divine charges. I collected roughly 29M GP from sales and ended up with about 32M in cash. Honeycomb and Kingdom supplies were selling too.
I was already spending on materials and chronotes, and the machines were fully funded. Having the supplies ready mattered more to me than leaving all of that money in the cash stack.
I still had simple parts waiting for another batch, so the plan was to slow-buy more energy and keep the cycle going. That sale money gave me room to continue Archaeology without stopping the systems that were funding it.
Research helped me progress between excavation sessions
The 24-hour research trips gave me more Archaeology XP and materials. I could send a team out and collect the rewards when I came back. One return helped me reach 72 Archaeology while I was working toward Associate.
I was happy to spend money on that progress. The materials coming back didn't always cover what I spent on the trip, but the XP helped move the account along. I kept useful materials for restoration instead of selling them and buying them back.
Research didn't clear the whole backlog for me. I still needed to finish mysteries and restore artifacts, and some of the mystery work sent me back to arrange special research before I could continue.
Stormguard took longer than I remembered
Stormguard Citadel became a big part of the Archaeology grind. I love the floating islands, but I spent a long time at the same spot trying to work out what I was missing. Restoring another toy glider wasn't the answer.
The Boots of Flight finally let me move to the next section, and I completed Leap of Faith. By then I'd run out of porters, so getting through the mystery had also turned into another supply run.
I wanted to keep exploring Stormguard while I worked through the mysteries and restorations for Associate.
Associate needed a restoration push
I still had restorations to complete for Associate. I bought materials, restored the newer artifacts I had saved and then worked through the Venator artifacts to get the count down. That work also took me to 73 Archaeology.
I wasn't expecting the low-level restorations to repay all the materials or give amazing XP. I wanted to finish the qualification and open the Associate rewards.
I thought I'd hit the finish and waited for a notification that didn't come. After that little anticlimax, the actual Associate-ready message appeared and I went through the ceremony. The rewards were what I wanted, although I did get a title and a broadcast out of it too.
I had been waiting for the wrong requirement
I'd mixed up 76 and 67 Invention and convinced myself I had to wait longer for the Auto-screener. Checking the requirement meant I could get on with it much sooner than I'd thought.
I bought chronotes and got the blueprint, then discovered another problem. I hadn't checked whether I had all the Invention parts to make it. I needed more disassembly and more spending before I could finish the device.
When I came back with the components, I realised buying the blueprint hadn't finished the research either. After sorting that out, I finally made the Auto-screener and took it out with my Dragon mattock.
The farm kept running while Archaeology had my attention
Player-Owned Farm kept progressing in the background and reached 82 Farming. I'm keeping the checks going, gathering produce and selling animals for beans while I think about which farm upgrade to buy next.
The marigold beehives are still part of that routine. I buy flowers to keep them supplied and sell the honeycomb. Those checks help pay for feed and other farm costs, although I do forget a refill sometimes.
Archaeology took most of my attention in this stretch. The machines, farm and Kingdom kept producing supplies and money while I worked through the Archaeology unlocks.
Archaeology now fits better around work
I replaced the soil-box and Jackalope setup with the Auto-screener. Grace of the Elves sends the materials to the bank, and the screener handles the soil as I excavate. That removes one of the things that kept interrupting the training.
I still need to click again when I find an artifact, but I can let the excavation run in the background while I'm at my desk. That's the upgrade I wanted from this stretch of Archaeology.
Sticky Fingers is why I've put so much time into Archaeology. Making the training easier to keep going while I work gets me closer to that next Thieving upgrade.
The blueprint alone cost me about 10 or 11 mil GP in chronotes. There are more Archaeology shop upgrades to consider, and I want to work out which ones are worth spending on next. For now, I've got the Auto-screener running and a setup that fits better around work.
